Garden update – reopen to clients on April 19th 2021!

It was with a great sense of anticipation that we planned our re-opening! It’s been such a difficult year for everyone and we couldn’t wait to get clients and volunteers back on site.

In the early part of the year we ventured into new territory, developing ‘TTG@Home’. This involved despatching a weekly box of horticultural activities to each client who then enjoyed a wide variety of imaginative table-top horticulture and craft activities at home, alongside a weekly online lesson from our hort team. Not the same as a day in the Garden, but lots of fun nonetheless and a lovely way to remain connected. The last boxes have now been sent and the gate to the Garden opened again on April 19th 2021.

Remaining COVID-19 secure whilst offering the very best of Social and Therapeutic Horticulture is our ongoing priority, so we deep cleaned and readied the Centre building, we tidied up the Garden and planned exciting activities. Spring is here and it really is the perfect time to reopen.

We updated our risk assessments and prepared special guides for anyone returning to the garden so clients and volunteers alike knew what to expect and what to do when they came back. We’ve made it a gentle transition, knowing from our experiences in September that it can be very challenging to emerge from a period of enforced lockdown.

For the moment we’re open with reduced numbers of clients and volunteers but as restrictions relax we’re looking forward to being able to return to the levels of activity we had back in early 2020.

We’re looking forward to posting further updates as we settle into a new rhythmn at the Garden.
