Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service
The volunteers of The Therapy Garden based at Normandy Surrey, which is horticulture and education charity that uses gardening to generate positive change for adults and young people with a range of physical and psychological difficulties, have been awarded the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to volunteer groups across the UK.
Local assessment panels review all the nominations and decide which to send to the National Award Committee. The committee makes recommendations to the Cabinet Office, and the final list is approved by the Queen.
Two of the volunteers represented all of The Therapy Garden volunteers at a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, which honoured all the recipients of this award.
The volunteers are integral to the efficient running of the charity, support of the clients and success of The Therapy Garden, and we are delighted that their hard work and commitment has been recognised.
