CUBIC – Beyond painting walls for a team of staff volunteer

Nine staff volunteers gave a day of their time to help a local charity. The IT infrastructure team took time out to visit The Therapy Garden, a charity that uses horticulture to help adults & teenagers with learning disabilities, physical disabilities & mental health challenges.

The team were tasked with painting the exterior of the charity wooden building that sits in the heart of the gardens maintained by the people the charity help.

“It’s been a brilliant day seeing us all come together to achieve something that we know will make a big difference.” said Mike Gosling. “I’ll come back here again to show the family the gardens and what the charity do.”

Nasima Kada, also enjoyed the experience of team volunteering. “I wasn’t sure what to expect. It’s not something I’ve done before but it’s been good fun and really interesting finding out about the charity.”

Kira, the Garden Manager at the charity said “We can’t thank you enough. The building now looks brand new again. We simply don’t have the time or people to do what you’ve all achieved. I can’t wait for all the staff, trustees and our clients to see it when they return from the Easter break. Do come back again.”

Mark Robison was pleased with his team’s efforts. “It’s been good seeing us all work together on something completely different. I’d encourage other managers to get involved in team volunteering days.”
