Cultivating skills

The ‘Cultivating Skills’ project offers social and therapeutic horticulture to adults with a range of physical disabilities and learning difficulties. Adults with mental health challenges such as depression and anxiety are also offered therapeutic horticulture, which promotes well being through active engagement. Attendees take part in a range of growing, harvesting and maintaining the gardens and are able to enjoy activities at their own pace, in a peaceful and supportive environment.

Clients work with experienced horticulturists and volunteers to develop new skills and gain confidence. Adult clients are often referred to The Therapy Garden by local Adult Services and Community Mental Health Teams and can also be self-referred.
